Which are the biggest universities in the world and where?

As of my last update in September 2021, the size of a university can be measured in different ways, such as the number of enrolled students, the size of the campus, or the number of faculties and academic departments. Here are some of the largest universities in the world based on their student enrollment:

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) – Located in New Delhi, India, IGNOU is one of the largest open universities globally, offering distance education to millions of students. It caters to a vast number of learners across various programs.

Anadolu University – Situated in Eskisehir, Turkey, Anadolu University is another prominent open university with a large student population, focusing on distance education.

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) – Based in Islamabad, Pakistan, AIOU is known for its extensive distance learning programs and significant enrollment.

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) – Located in Gazipur, Bangladesh, BOU is one of the largest universities in Asia, providing distance education to numerous students.

California State University, Fullerton – Located in Fullerton, California, this is one of the largest universities in the United States, part of the California State University system.

University of Sao Paulo (Universidade de Sao Paulo – USP) – Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, USP is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Latin America.

National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) – Situated in Bogota, Colombia, this university is one of the largest in South America.

University of Mumbai – Located in Mumbai, India, the University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of student enrollment.

Tribhuvan University – Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, Tribhuvan University is the oldest and largest university in Nepal.

Please note that enrollment numbers can change over time, and new data may have emerged since my last update. Additionally, universities might have different measures of size depending on the criteria used. It’s always a good idea to refer to up-to-date sources for the most current information.
